Background:
One of the UK’s fastest-growing tech companies, iplicit, has announced the relocation of its head office to Patch in Bournemouth town centre, marking a significant step in its growth journey toward becoming Dorset’s first tech unicorn.
The company, which provides an award-winning cloud accounting solution to mid-market businesses and charities across the UK and Ireland, has previously operated a remote-first model with bases in London and Poole. Its frontline support team has been working from the new Bournemouth location since early November.
Lyndon Stickley, CEO of iplicit, commented, “We’re thrilled to make Bournemouth the home of iplicit’s new head office. We needed a dynamic, contemporary space that could scale with us and accommodate Dorset’s first tech unicorn in the making – and we’ve found it at Patch.”
Since starting in 2019, Iplicit has grown from 11 employees to 198. In January 2025, it received £25 million from growth fund One Peak, its first major investment, after being funded with £18.5 million from the management team in its early years. The investment will help the company grow and add improved mobile features.
iplicit aims to have about 330 employees by 2028, with most working remotely across the UK and Ireland. Currently, Bournemouth-based staff number around 30, with more set to join as the business grows.
Freddie Fforde, CEO of Patch, said, “We’re delighted to welcome a business of iplicit’s scale and momentum to Patch Bournemouth. iplicit’s success demonstrates that great companies can be built anywhere, with talented people in every town and city across the UK.”
Mr. Stickley added that the move will support the local economy, help hire more staff, and provide space for events with accountants, charities, schools, and tech companies.
Since 2019, iplicit has gained more than 48,000 daily users across 103 countries, with its revenue doubling every year. The company is on course to achieve its goal of joining the tech unicorn club, with a valuation exceeding US$1 billion.
