Nvidia has announced a partnership with London-based AI startup Ineffable Intelligence to develop advanced artificial intelligence systems that can learn through experience. Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang said the future of AI lies in “superlearners,” systems that improve continuously by learning from real-world trial and error.
Ineffable Intelligence was founded in late 2025 by David Silver, a professor at University College London and a former lead scientist for reinforcement learning at Google DeepMind. The startup wants to build AI systems that can discover new knowledge on their own instead of depending mostly on data written by humans.
According to the company, Ineffable will focus on reinforcement learning, a method where AI models learn by making decisions, testing outcomes, and improving over time. This approach differs from many current AI models that mostly depend on large amounts of text, images, and other human-generated information.
Nvidia said the partnership will involve an engineering-level collaboration, with teams from both companies working together to build large-scale reinforcement learning infrastructure. The project will use Nvidia’s Grace Blackwell chips and the company’s upcoming Vera Rubin platform to support heavy training demands.
Huang said Nvidia is excited to help design the technology backbone needed to scale reinforcement learning systems. He added that these systems could push AI beyond today’s capabilities.
Silver said many researchers have already solved the easier challenge of building AI that understands what humans know. He explained that the next challenge is developing AI that can generate new discoveries independently, which requires learning directly from experience.
The deal comes as investors pour billions into new AI labs launched by former Big Tech researchers. Ineffable recently raised $1.1 billion in seed funding, backed by Sequoia, Lightspeed, Nvidia, Google, DST Global, Index, and the U.K.’s Sovereign AI Fund.
